However, it would be true to say dogs have suffered more because of their connection with humans.

The dog has been our companion and friend. It has worked side by side with us. We have bred dogs to look, act and perform for us.

Genetic disorders also affect dogs, often due to breeder's doing selective breeding to produce individual dog breeds. This can all add to poor health and an unhappy pet.
